On Jan. 31, the sold-out 2018 Anchorage Economic Forecast Luncheon drew 1,500 Alaskan business leaders and entrepreneurs to the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center for a program packed with networking opportunities, new economic research and reports and insights from keynote speakers Joe Marushack of ConocoPhillips Alaska and Ron Duncan of GCI.
Presentations from Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen updated attendees on municipal and university priorities going into the new year. The 2017 Live. Work. Play. Report Card, published in the January issue of STRIVE Magazine, offered dozens of metrics measuring the ongoing effort to make Anchorage the #1 city in America. The results of the 2018 Business Confidence Index and recent Anchorage Consumer Confidence Index gave guests valuable data regarding the shifting local economy, and the 2018 Anchorage Economic Forecast, presented by AEDC President Bill Popp, predicted slowing job losses and a return to growth beyond 2018.
