We invite our Investors and the general public to join us for a presentation by Alaska’s Future about the current state fiscal situation.

Decisive action needs to be taken by Alaska’s policymakers this year in order to avoid pushing the state’s economy to a fiscal precipice. In light of this situation, the AEDC Board of Directors recently unanimously passed a resolution to join the Alaska’s Future coalition. AEDC and Alaska’s Future believe that all fiscal tools, including the use of the permanent fund, the enactment of reasonable taxes and the making of necessary cuts to state spending, need to be considered in order to significantly improve Alaska’s fiscal situation.

Date: Thursday, March 24, 2016
Time: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Where: Hotel Captain Cook, 939 W. 5th Ave., Anchorage
Click here to RSVP. Free to attend.

While we disagree strongly with characterizations that Alaska is poised for a recession similar to the 1980s, we do believe that unless both the State Administration and the Legislature act together towards a sustainable future for the state there is a very real possibility that we may create the very crisis we are trying to avoid. We encourage all Alaskans to educate themselves about our current state fiscal situation and encourage our leadership to come together with the shared goal of protecting and preserving Alaska’s future, its economy and the well-being of its people. Well informed, rational actions to address the current budget shortfalls and the development of a long-term strategy for growing and developing Alaska’s economy cannot wait.
