The State of Alaska and U.S. government offer a number of financial incentives for companies hiring targeted employee groups, including military veterans. Two notable programs are:

  • Alaska Veteran Employment Corporate Tax Credit (State)
  • Work Opportunity Tax Credit (Federal)

Under the Alaska Veteran Employment Corporate Tax Credit, employers may qualify for $1,000-3,000 in corporate tax credits for employing a U.S. military veteran. The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a U.S. Dept. of Labor program provides incentives for employers hiring from targeted groups, including federal aid recipients, veterans and other targeted groups. WOTC provides qualifying businesses $1,200- $9,600 in reimbursements against federal business income taxes. These tax credits can be combined for the same hire, as well.
