Transportation & Technology Workshop

November 17, 2016 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Transportation is changing. Communities have reached a breaking point with congestion and are looking for solutions that improve safety and mobility.

Recent technological advancements have made transportation the topic of conversation across Alaska, across the US, across the globe. The USDOT has identified several programs to help communities identify, create, and fund programs and projects that improve safety, enhance mobility, provide additional travel options, and reduce emissions into the environment. From electric, connected, and automated vehicles to integrated corridors to smart infrastructure, we face a plethora of impacts that we must consider when planning for our future transportation infrastructure and its operation.

This Transportation & Technology workshop will feature leading industry experts active in connected and automated vehicle testbeds, shared automated vehicles, and government funding. Moderator Vivian Underwood, ITS Coordinator at the Municipality of Anchorage, will lead our distinguished panel in a discussion on the future of transportation and the opportunities available to Alaskan communities to help us meet our regional needs and enhance our ability to compete in a global economic environment.

When: Nov. 17, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Where: The Alaska Experience Theater, 333 W. 4th Ave. Anchorage
RSVP: Please email Riley Bronga by Nov. 9.
