Anchorage Industries – Government
Protecting Alaska
Anchorage is the administrative heart of Alaska, serving as the hub for federal, state, and local government operations. At the north of the city, the military base Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson houses everything from F-16s to thousands of military personnel tasked with protecting the US’s Arctic interests.
Towards the center of the city lies the Bureau of Land Management, which manages over 23.6 million acres of public land in Alaska, and the Federal Aviation Administration, which oversees the world’s 4th busiest cargo airport. On the other side of town, the Municipality of Anchorage manages the state’s largest port.
