Anchorage Employment Report: August 2025

Year over year, Anchorage’s August change from 2024 to 2025 added 1,000 jobs and reflects a steady market growth.
The three fastest-growing sectors were: Local Government (39.4%, +2,600), Local Education (69.2%, +2,700), State Education (12.5%, +200).

Month over Month, jobs increased by 418 from July 2025 to August 2025. Employment in local education (-2,700 in July) and local government (-2,600 in July) stabilized as expected with the renewal of contracts for the upcoming school year, ensuring steady staffing levels in schools and municipal operations.
