The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is hosting the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Planning Series. AEDC believes in Anchorage. We know this place has unlimited potential as a world-class city, and we are taking concrete steps to move us toward a brighter future.
The CEDS is a regional planning guide created cooperatively by the Municipality of Anchorage and the AEDC to drive local job growth, income stability, and federal funding eligibility.
This plan will not only unlock federal funding for local projects, but more importantly will unite our community with a common vision, connecting local organizations and businesses together in the areas that matter most so we can use our resources to build a better Anchorage.
What makes Anchorage special?
That’s the question we’re asking our community, and the response is clear. We love the outdoors, our incredible access to mountains and waters and all the possibilities it unlocks. We also love our community of Alaskans, the support that we provide each other in good times and in bad. Everyone who lives here can feel the difference in the air, and that gives us all something to believe in.
AEDC is uniquely positioned to spearhead this campaign. Operating in Anchorage since 1987, our organization has been making connections with the municipality government and business community while remaining nonpartisan and apolitical, enabling us to be a unifying force for progress and prosperity. With a membership of over 250 businesses partners dedicated to the betterment of Anchorage, we can connect passionate organizations with effective leadership that will help move the needle on Anchorage’s economy. Under new leadership and a fresh team, we are energized to make Anchorage what we all know it can be.
The time to act is now. Anchorage is improving, but we need to get into the fast lane and not only catch up to the state’s economy but become the undisputed leader. With enormous federal funding on the horizon to support JBER and military operations statewide, it is time for Anchorage to unite and convert investment into community-defined value.
