AEDC Announces Jonathan Bittner as New President and Chief Executive Officer Anchorage, Alaska — Following a rigorous recruitment process, the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) has selected Jonathan (Jon) Bittner as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A fifth generation Alaskan and respected economic development leader, Bittner will formally assume the role on March 16, 2026.

AEDC conducted a comprehensive selection process that attracted more than 100 applicants. After multiple rounds of interviews, the AEDC Board of Directors unanimously selected Bittner to lead the organization into its next chapter.

“Throughout the interview process, Jon consistently demonstrated the collaborative leadership approach that is central to AEDC’s success,” said AEDC Board Chair Mark Filipenko. “Among a strong pool of candidates, Jon stood out for his economic development experience, vision for Anchorage’s future, and readiness to hit the ground running. He brings both continuity and fresh perspective, and we are confident in his ability to strengthen AEDC as a force for positive change in our community.”

Bittner brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in resource development, public policy, economic development strategy, and technology innovation. A lifelong Anchorage resident and graduate of the Anchorage School District and the University of Alaska Anchorage, he has held leadership roles advancing business growth and economic opportunity across the state. Having previously served at AEDC, Bittner combines deep institutional knowledge with new energy and perspectives, balancing respect for the organization’s history with a clear vision for its future.

“I am deeply honored to lead an organization that plays such a vital role in Anchorage’s economic future,” said Bittner. “Anchorage is my home, and I look forward to working with our investors, businesses, and community partners to strengthen economic opportunity and build a prosperous, sustainable, and diverse economy for our community.”
