Dear AEDC Investors & Community,

Spring in Alaska brings a welcome sense of renewal and that spirit is reflected in the momentum we’re seeing across Anchorage. I’m excited to share some of what we’re optimistic about this month.

First, I’m excited that AEDC has officially launched the Anchorage Ambassador program, as part of our talent attraction strategy. This initiative empowers community members to share Anchorage’s story, helping prospective residents and workers see the opportunities, lifestyle, and unique culture we have to offer. We’re excited to see this grow into a powerful peer-to-peer recruitment tool.

There’s also great news on the policy front. The Anchorage Assembly recently passed a multifamily property tax abatement tool, which is something prospective developers have consistently asked for. This will increase our competitiveness, make it easier to bring much-needed housing online and is a meaningful step toward addressing our shortage while encouraging smart, sustainable growth.

Finally, let’s talk about some exciting developments. Major renovation projects are underway at the Hotel Captain Cook, the Wild Birch Hotel, and the Hilton, each a sign of strong private-sector investment and confidence in the future of our city’s downtown core. We’re also seeing major progress in the vertical construction of new health care facilities on the ANTHC campus. These projects signal not only increased capacity for health care delivery, but also Anchorage’s expanding role as a regional hub for innovation and care, bringing with it new jobs, capital investment, and long-term economic benefit.

There’s real momentum building across our community, and we’re grateful to have you alongside us as we work to accelerate it.

Happy spring!
