RFP Alert – Anchorage Downtown Library

Anchorage Public Library (APL) and the Anchorage Library Foundation (ALF) are working to re-establish a downtown library. This project is made possible by a generous bequest from Janet and John Goetz, long-time downtown residents who had a vision to bring back a walkable library to serve the diverse needs of downtown residents, workers and visitors.

The process for Anchorage to have a new downtown public library are moving forward. With a call for bidding closing soon, June 18th. The plans call for improvement 2,568 feet of the Historic Old City Hall Building located at 524 West 4th Ave. Improvement includes updating the exterior and interior, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, sprinklers, fire alarm, communications, and structural modifications. The project also lists a potential boiler replacement and updated furniture. Since the building is registered on the “National Register of Historic Places,” renovations are to comply with federal standards.
